Miami Heat win PBWA’s 2019-20 Brian McIntyre Media Relations Award
December 4, 2020 — The Miami Heat’s basketball communications team has won the 2019-20 Brian McIntyre Media Relations Award, which is presented each season to an NBA media relations staff that best exemplifies standards of professionalism and excellence, the Professional Basketball Writers Association announced today.
The Heat’s full-time basketball communications staff consists of Vice President of Sports Media Relations Tim Donovan, Senior Director of Sports Media Relations Rob Wilson, Director of Sports Media Relations Michael Lissack, Sports Media Relations Senior Manager Nick Maiorana and Sports Media Relations/Basketball Operations Assistant Maddox Burnett.
Donovan, Wilson, Lissack, Maiorana, Burnett and coach Erik Spoelstra have fostered an atmosphere of mutual respect with journalists. Their work has facilitated in-depth, accurate coverage of the team.
The media relations staffs of the Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Orlando Magic and Portland Trail Blazers also were 2019-20 Brian McIntyre Media Relations Award finalists, as determined by nominations from PBWA members.
A vote of PBWA members determined the winner. The PBWA is composed of more than 200 writers and editors who cover the NBA on a regular basis for newspapers, online outlets and magazines.
The award is named for Brian McIntyre, the longtime former NBA public relations director.
